Privacy Policy - NoteNest

Learn how NoteNest handles your data, privacy, and security. This fully offline note-taking app stores everything locally on your device.

Overview

NoteNest ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your data is collected, used, and safeguarded when you use the NoteNest application.

NoteNest is a fully offline application. No data is transmitted to any external server unless you explicitly choose to export or share your data.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Locally Stored Data

All data you create within NoteNest — notes, checklists, categories, tags, settings, and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using:

  • IndexedDB (inside the WebView) for note content
  • localStorage for app settings and ad-free state

We do not collect, transmit, or store any of this data on external servers.

1.2 No Account Required

NoteNest does not require any account creation, registration, or login. We do not collect:

  • Names
  • Email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers (IMEI, etc.)

1.3 Advertising Identifiers

If you choose to watch a rewarded advertisement to remove ads, the standard advertising ID provided by your device's advertising platform (Google AdMob) may be used solely for the purpose of delivering the ad. We do not store or share this identifier.

2. How We Use Your Data

Since all data remains on your device, we do not process, analyze, or share your personal information. The app functions entirely offline.

The only network requests made by the app are:

  • Loading Google Fonts (Inter) on first run (can be disabled in settings)
  • Loading advertisements via Google AdMob (only if ads are enabled)

3. Third-Party Services

3.1 Google AdMob

NoteNest uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and process certain device information and advertising identifiers in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can learn more at: https://policies.google.com/privacy

3.2 Google Fonts

The app may load the Inter font from Google Fonts servers on first launch. No personal data is transmitted as part of this request.

4. Data Backup & Export

You can export your notes as a JSON file at any time through the Settings page. This file is saved to your device's storage using the Android Storage Access Framework. You control where this file is saved and how it is shared.

5. Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally:

  • Delete individual notes: Move to trash, then permanently delete
  • Clear all data: Clear app data through Android system settings
  • Uninstall: Removes all app data from your device

6. Children's Privacy

NoteNest does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app is designed for general audiences and does not target children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since the app is fully offline, significant changes will be communicated within the app's interface.
